Reusing your existing space.

Reusing your existing foundations and builder work, CR Smith would fit new energy A-rated Lorimer windows and doors, and your choice of either a super-efficient Smartglass® roof with optional orangerie detailing, or an alternative hybrid tiled roof. If opting for a glass roof we will also fit our A+++ rated energy efficient climate control system to ensure you get the best out of the space all year round.

We then give the inside a complete makeover with new plasterboard, flooring, electrics, heating and timber sills and skirtings. Plus, our professional decorators will paint the walls and varnish the sills.

The hybrid tiled roof.

If you’re looking to replace an existing conservatory glass roof or even an existing solid roof extension, the hybrid tiled roof is a modern alternative which features lightweight composite tiles or slates.

Our composite slate range is available in a choice of five natural colours, providing you the opportunity to add texture and style to your new roof.  The modern tiles are made from lightweight, high-grade steel with an Aluzinc® coating for incredible strength and resistance. They are also available in five different colours to complement practically any home.

You can add features to your roof including Smartglass® infinity glazing panels or traditional roof windows. On the inside the roof is fully vaulted making it a real feature of your newly refurbished living space.

If you are changing your existing structure from a polycarbonate or glass roof to a solid roof, Scottish building regulations class this as a ‘change of use’ which means a building warrant and structural engineer’s report would be required to get permission to carry out the work. CR Smith will complete the necessary drawings and applications on your behalf.

Smartglass® roof with optional orangerie detailing.

A Lorimer Smartglass® roof with orangerie detailing will transform the look and feel of a traditional conservatory. Internally, it consists of a partial solid ceiling but has an overarching glazed roof.

The roof itself is an extruded aluminium clad design which is finished with uPVC on the inside to match the windows. Its engineered construction means the roof is fully built and tested prior to installation which carries British Board of Agrément accreditation. The aluminium design means it will remain colour-fast and gives it additional rigidity and strength, unlike uPVC roofs. Each roof has a unique wind and snow loading specification, computer calculated prior to manufacture.

Featuring innovative Smartglass® technology, the roof has a clever surface on the outside which helps to stay cleaner for longer, and a special coating on the inside, which reflects unwanted heat and glare from the sun in summer, yet helps retain warmth during the winter months and is almost three times as efficient as standard double glazing in this regard.

Your internal makeover.

Your new Lorimer Renovation includes full decoration internally by our professional painters including your choice of timber sills and skirtings which will be hand finished in varnish.

Engineered timber flooring and lighting are fitted as standard and we’ll take care of everything else too, including electrics and heating, allowing you to use your new-look living space straight away.

We would also recommend fitting our climate control system which allows you to heat, cool, or purify the air at the touch of a button or set timer. It’s A+++ energy rated, and is therefore much cheaper to run than most heaters or air conditioners. Plus the unit comes in a range of colours to suit your decor.

Where conservatory roofs have a very low pitch, it is not possible to fit a glass or solid roof. Therefore, we have a range of high-performance polycarbonate options. Polycarbonate roofs come in three tints; clear, bronze and opal. You also have the option to include HeatGuard™ which reduces solar gain by over half, compared to clear material. This also minimises glare and reduces yellowing on the uPVC.
