Checking the foundations for a home sweeter home

03/11/17

You’ve had your heart set on a conservatory, sunroom or orangerie, chosen the design, got the means to pay for it, picked out soft furnishings and even envisaged yourself enjoying living in the space once it’s built.

But did you know that four in ten people are caught out by the additional costs of matching their house foundations to meet Building Regulations?

With building requirements on new estates and on brownfield sites varying, foundation techniques can also differ, which means they have to be matched when building any new living space.

And with house builders or local authorities not keeping records of foundation types, the only way to confirm foundation detail is to dig exploratory test pits. These test pits will confirm the quality of ground, the depth, and style (strip, raft or mini-pile) of the foundations.

Because building extra living spaces is what we do best, we have just launched our own dedicated Foundation Inspection Service, where we can assess the foundation requirements before the build process begins, so you know exactly how much it will cost in advance so there are no surprises or disappointments.

After all, a conservatory, orangerie or sunroom is a major construction project and has to be done correctly as it’s going to be a room you enjoy using time and time again.
