Lorimer Orangerie, Skene, Aberdeenshire
Skene was traditionally a small farming community, situated in North East Scotland. Nestled in the Aberdeenshire countryside with its location only 10km west of Aberdeen city, it has enjoyed growth over the last few years and a number of new housing developments have been built to keep up with demand.
Mostly consisting of modern detached properties, the surrounding views have proved popular with people wanting to make the most of them by extending their homes with a contemporary orangerie or sunroom, rather than only considering a classic conservatory.
After looking through our CR Homes magazine Mr & Mrs Hay were inspired to add the former to their impressive Skene home. “We thought that a CR Smith orangerie would provide a stylish and modern extension for our home” said Mr Hay.
“The sales experience was first class. We felt well looked after” said Mrs Hay. The orangerie is accessible from the house via French doors, and to access the garden through bi-folding doors. They have really added an extra wow factor to their orangerie.
“The orangerie is an entertainment room for when we have guests. There is no television” said Mr Hay. He added that “it has more than fulfilled its intended purpose and become an impressive additional feature of the house should we decide to sell in the future.”
