Why did Mr and Mrs Bell decide to upgrade their windows and doors?

Over the years, Mr and Mrs Bell’s home had developed a mixture of finishes, particularly across the three patio doors leading onto their riverside terrace. Two were timber, one aluminium, creating an inconsistent appearance that no longer reflected the style of their home.

Located on the shore of the River Leven in Balloch, the property enjoys beautiful waterside views, with the patio doors forming a key architectural feature. The mismatch in materials had been something the family had overlooked for some time, but when they decided to upgrade, creating a cohesive look became a priority.

Having carried out thorough research and already being familiar with the strong brand presence of CR Smith, they felt confident choosing a company with a long-standing reputation across Scotland.

How did the new design improve the home’s appearance?

The transformation centred around introducing a consistent anthracite finish across the exterior. The three new patio doors now sit seamlessly alongside the upgraded Lorimer casement windows, creating a unified and contemporary look.

The anthracite grey frames complement the natural tones of the wooden terrace and contrast beautifully against the roughcast and brickwork of the property. The result is a striking yet balanced exterior that enhances the home’s riverside setting.

Internally, the Bells opted for a clean white uPVC finish. This choice brightens the living spaces while maintaining a fresh, neutral backdrop that works effortlessly with their interior decor.

What products were chosen to achieve a cohesive finish?

To ensure consistency across the property, Mr and Mrs Bell also upgraded their front entrance to a TimberLuxe Tux composite door with two frosted glass side screens. This created a strong focal point at the front of the home while maintaining privacy and light flow.

Their new Lorimer casement windows were completed with chrome handles, adding a subtle modern touch that ties the overall design together.

Working closely with their local CR Smith design expert, the Bells ensured every element complemented the property while meeting Building Standards (Scotland).

What was the installation experience like?

Following installation, Mrs Bells commented on how smooth and professionally managed the entire process was. From consultation through to completion, the experience was straightforward and well coordinated.

Now that the upgrade is complete, the family are delighted with the transformation. What was once a collection of mismatched finishes is now a cohesive, modern and striking home, perfectly suited to its riverside surroundings.
