CR Smith has been Scotland’s most trusted name in windows, doors and living spaces for over 50 years.
Helping homeowners across the country turn their vision into reality is what we, at CR Smith, strive to achieve. Whether you’re looking for a modern twist on your current design, increased security, or to help your rooms feel brighter and more spacious, we’re here to help. For Mr and Mrs Stuart, their recent upgrade has helped improve their home’s security, increase natural light within the home, and increase their home’s energy efficiency. Which ultimately is helping them save money on energy bills.
As previous customers of CR Smith, Mr and Mrs Stuart knew the quality of Lorimer products well, along with the premium service offered by CR Smith. When moving into their new home, they were keen to upgrade their windows and doors to increase both the energy efficiency and natural light within their home. Since the upgrade, they have also benefited from increased security thanks to their new front doors.
“…it’s different, so modern looking and safe as well with having the children…”
The property featured casement windows originally, and the couple decided to keep this design due to its practicality and ease of use. Working closely with their local CR Smith product expert, they were able to create a new window design, changing the overall look. In the living room, the window has a large fixed pane with top-hinged hoppers; however, the Stuarts found it hard to get adequate ventilation within the space. For the upgrade, they decided on a central fixed pane with two side-hinged casement windows on either side. A more practical design to increase ventilation within the space, while still allowing for natural light to flood their home.
One of the largest transformations within the home is the upgrade from rosewood internal sills and surrounds to white. The change has had a positive effect on the overall appearance within each room, helping to create a brighter, spacious feeling throughout the home.
There is a wide range of styles and panes to choose from in the Lorimer uPVC doors range. The Stuarts were able to select a design that they loved and one that stood out from their neighbours. The classic design of the ‘Georgian Three’ panel not only looks great, but offers excellent thermal efficiency, increased security within its multi-point locking system and helps enhance the overall kerb appeal of the property. Due to the style of the home, with two doors at the front of the property, the Stuarts kept the doors the same in unison. Mrs Stuart commented on how the new designs of their doors have differentiated them from their neighbours, saying:
“…nobody else has that design in our street and we didn’t want to be the same as everybody else, so we chose that design.”
The Stuarts’ new windows are the perfect example of how a change in internal timbers and window design can enhance the overall aesthetic and facade of a home. The internal upgrade to white internal sills and surrounds has helped instantly brighten the home, bringing a fresh, bright, modern feel to each room. Externally, the new white finish has rejuvenated the properties’ kerb appeal, helping set their home apart from their neighbours. This window upgrade showcases how Lorimer windows can refresh the look of a home while also elevating its energy efficiency and security.
Lorimer windows are designed with slimmer frames, allowing more natural light to enter your home. Choosing lighter internal finishes, such as white sills and surrounds, can also help reflect light around the room. creating a brighter and more spacious feel.
Casement windows are a popular choice due to their versatility and ease of use. Side-hinged options provide excellent ventilation, while also offering strong sealing performance to keep out draughts and the elements.
Yes, there is a wide range of styles, colours, finishes and hardware options available. This allows homeowners to create a look that suits their property while also adding a unique touch.
Internal finishes play a big role in how a space looks and feels. Lighter colours can make rooms appear larger and brighter, while darker finishes can create a more traditional or cosy feel?
