Top 5 questions to ask when replacing your windows. Part 2

Ask the experts

We asked our Senior Sales Designer and window expert, Mark Orwin, to answer some of the most popular questions put to our sales team.  You can read his answers here, or check out the video, as Mark covers a range of subjects from virtual appointments through to where our windows are made and what makes them different.

1. Do you employ your tradespeople directly?

Yes. Every window and door is surveyed by our own measurement surveyors, overseen by a dedicated project manager and fitted by our fully qualified and expertly trained joiners, so we can ensure the highest standards for you at every stage of the project.

2. Will we need to do any work before or after the installation?

Our joiners will treat your home like their own, they’ll use plenty of dust sheets to protect your furniture and work methodically around your house. We do ask that you take down any blinds or curtains and move any valuable items from the window area in advance of their arrival.

Normally the joiners will begin upstairs and will fully complete whichever windows they start each day, to ensure your home remains weather tight and secure.

Once complete we will tidy up after ourselves, take away all the debris, clean the windows and vacuum. We’ll then arrange for our painter to visit and finish your internal timber sills and surrounds in your choice of varnish, wax or paint. So once the installation is complete, all you’ll need to do is rehang your curtains or blinds.

3. Can I view the products before installation?

Yes. And we believe this to be crucial. Buying new windows and doors is a big project so you need to make sure you look at a sample – no matter who you ultimately choose to carry out the work.

We will show you window styles, timber finishes and handles so you can see the products you have chosen and understand what they’ll look like in your home.

4. What energy efficiency ratings do your windows achieve?

The Lorimer range of windows and doors has an energy rating of ‘A’ as standard, this is equivalent to a U-value of 1.4W/m²K and is accredited by the British Rating Fenestration Council.

5. What guarantee does CR Smith offer for windows and doors?
