CR Smith has appointed Colin Bain as its first Head of Manufacturing.
Joining a growing management team driving the expansion of the firm’s commercial business, Mr Bain brings more than 30 years’ experience and expertise from the electronics and defence industries where he has worked to establish and run mission critical, right-first-time-quality production facilities.
His appointment signals the intent of the CR Smith commercial business to capitalise on the increasing demand for high-end, energy efficient and secure windows and doors. As well as a buoyant domestic market, CR Smith, Scotland’s longest established home improvements companies, is winning more contracts from local authorities, housing associations and housebuilders, who also require both product and service reliability.
Output from CR Smith’s manufacturing plant is up 50% on pre-pandemic levels with public sector work representing 35% of the total, up from 20% of 2019 volumes.
Colin Eadie, Director of CR Smith Manufacturing Ltd, has been building both the commercial sales team and the operational technical expertise. He said:
