How did CR Smith help Mr and Mrs Stuart modernise their home and increase the property’s security?
Helping homeowners across the country turn their vision into reality is what we, at CR Smith, strive to achieve. Whether you’re looking for a modern twist on your current design, increased security, or to help your rooms feel brighter and more spacious, we’re here to help. For Mr and Mrs Stuart, their recent upgrade has helped improve their home’s security, increase natural light within the home, and increase their home’s energy efficiency. Which ultimately is helping them save money on energy bills.
Why did the Stuarts want to upgrade their family home?
As previous customers of CR Smith, Mr and Mrs Stuart knew the quality of Lorimer products well, along with the premium service offered by CR Smith. When moving into their new home, they were keen to upgrade their windows and doors to increase both the energy efficiency and natural light within their home. Since the upgrade, they have also benefited from increased security thanks to their new front doors.
“…it’s different, so modern looking and safe as well with having the children…”
What new window design did they choose?
The property featured casement windows originally, and the couple decided to keep this design due to its practicality and ease of use. Working closely with their local CR Smith product expert, they were able to create a new window design, changing the overall look. In the living room, the window has a large fixed pane with top-hinged hoppers; however, the Stuarts found it hard to get adequate ventilation within the space. For the upgrade, they decided on a central fixed pane with two side-hinged casement windows on either side. A more practical design to increase ventilation within the space, while still allowing for natural light to flood their home.
One of the largest transformations within the home is the upgrade from rosewood internal sills and surrounds to white. The change has had a positive effect on the overall appearance within each room, helping to create a brighter, spacious feeling throughout the home.
How do the new front doors compare to their previous doors?
There is a wide range of styles and panes to choose from in the Lorimer uPVC doors range. The Stuarts were able to select a design that they loved and one that stood out from their neighbours. The classic design of the ‘Georgian Three’ panel not only looks great, but offers excellent thermal efficiency, increased security within its multi-point locking system and helps enhance the overall kerb appeal of the property. Due to the style of the home, with two doors at the front of the property, the Stuarts kept the doors the same in unison. Mrs Stuart commented on how the new designs of their doors have differentiated them from their neighbours, saying:
“…nobody else has that design in our street and we didn’t want to be the same as everybody else, so we chose that design.”
What impact did the transformation have on their home?
The Stuarts’ new windows are the perfect example of how a change in internal timbers and window design can enhance the overall aesthetic and facade of a home. The internal upgrade to white internal sills and surrounds has helped instantly brighten the home, bringing a fresh, bright, modern feel to each room. Externally, the new white finish has rejuvenated the properties’ kerb appeal, helping set their home apart from their neighbours. This window upgrade showcases how Lorimer windows can refresh the look of a home while also elevating its energy efficiency and security.
