How did CR Smith help the Roebucks transform their Ayrshire home?
At Muirmill Farm in Symington, Mr and Mrs Roebuck have long combined home life with running their equestrian centre. When they decided to convert an old livery building into a bright, open-plan kitchen and dining space, they wanted to maximise natural light and make the most of their stunning rural surroundings.
CR Smith worked closely with the couple to design a bespoke patio door solution that would anchor the renovation and create a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors.
Why did the Roebucks decide to renovate?
For years, their kitchen had been positioned in a dark, north-facing part of the home. The couple dreamed of relocating it to a brighter space that captured sunlight and views across the arena and countryside.
Their opportunity came when they chose to renovate an adjacent outbuilding.
“We knew this was a sun trap, just outside the doors we’ve installed, so it felt like the right place to make this the kitchen space.”
The goal for the project was clear: create a modern kitchen-dining area filled with light and connected to the outdoors.
How did Lorimer patio doors create indoor-outdoor living?
The installation of large, four-part Lorimer patio doors completely transformed the new space.
At almost 4.5 metres wide, the design features sliding central panels with fixed panes on either side, creating perfect symmetry and uninterrupted views. The slimline frames and overlapping transoms maximise the glazed area, allowing natural light to flood the room.
The sliding configuration is particularly practical for exposed or windy locations, as the panels glide smoothly without projecting outward, ideal for an Ayrshire countryside setting.
The result is a space that effortlessly opens onto the outdoors, perfect for summer entertaining, family dinners, and enjoying spectacular sunsets.
What features made Lorimer patio doors the right choice?
The Roebucks selected Lorimer uPVC patio doors for both style and performance.
Key features include:
- Slimline frames to maximise glass and natural light
- Space-saving sliding design
- Multi-point bi-directional parrot hook locking system
- Anti-bump, anti-drill, anti-pick and anti-snap cylinder
- Configurations available up to 6 metres wide
These features ensure the doors deliver not only a refined aesthetic but also robust security and long-term durability.
How did the CR Smith finance packages support the renovation?
A major factor in choosing CR Smith was the availability of flexible finance packages.
The Roebucks were able to begin their renovation immediately and delay payment for 12 months under a low fixed-rate APR plan. This flexibility allowed them to prioritise their kitchen transformation without financial pressure.
“We chose CR Smith because of the payment options available to us… Graeme made it a really simple process, which gave us a lot of confidence in the company.”
The patio doors were installed ahead of the kitchen fit-out, creating a secure and weatherproof environment while construction and decoration were completed.
What transformation did the new patio doors deliver?
The impact was immediate, Mrs Rosebuck passed comment on the sunsets and the view, mentioning how guests complement the striking views showcased by the new doors.
“The sunsets here are beautiful in the evenings. The first thing you notice when you walk through the door is the view – as people walk in, they go ‘wow’! It’s just made a massive difference.”
The new Lorimer patio doors have become the focal point of the home, framing the countryside beyond and delivering the ‘wow’ factor the couple had envisioned.
Bringing vision and performance together
This Ayrshire transformation demonstrates how thoughtful design, high-quality products and flexible finance options can work together seamlessly.
By combining expansive glazing, secure engineering and a tailored payment solution, CR Smith helped the Roebucks create a light-filled living space that enhances both their home and their lifestyle.
