“The workmen were very good, they came in, laid dust sheets and started work. Once they were finished they cleaned up. It was a good experience and the new double glazing has been wonderful.”

CR Smith partnership with Kingdom Housing Association
Kingdom is one of Scotland’s longest-established housing associations, owning and managing 7,500 affordable homes in the east of Scotland.
In 2022, CR Smith was appointed to deliver a large-scale window replacement programme across multiple sites including Methil, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Cowdenbeath, Buckhaven, St Andrews, Pittenweem and Oakley.
Led by a mission to provide ‘more than a home’, the organisation is committed to ongoing upgrades and repairs to its housing stock and requires a reliable partner who understands its core values and can be trusted to deliver whilst causing as little disruption as possible to its residents’ daily lives.
The smooth operation, quality of product and reliability of the CR Smith process have cemented the partnership, which has now been extended.
“The workmen were very good, they came in, laid dust sheets and started work. Once they were finished, they cleaned up. It was a good experience and the new double glazing has been wonderful.”

2025 – 2026 reappointment
Following the successful completion of 177 installations in the initial phase, CR Smith was reappointed for the 2025–2026 programme, covering a further 140 properties. The decision was based on the smooth operation, quality of workmanship, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from tenants and staff.
The renewed partnership reflects Kingdom’s confidence in CR Smith’s ability to deliver consistent quality, minimal disruption, and strong communication. The upgrades have improved energy efficiency, enhanced property aesthetics, and reinforced Kingdom’s commitment to sustainability and tenant wellbeing.
“The window and door installation teams were professional, skilled and efficient. They took great care to protect our customers’ homes during the work and adhered to the programme that was agreed.”
– Bryan Livingston, Asset Strategy Manager
Energy-efficient window and door installation
Over 200 homes across fife have been fitted with uPVC reversible windows, most of which have replaced old timber glazed windows which were no longer energy-efficient and causing numerous issues for residents, including draughts.
In some cases, the original windows were no longer compliant with Scottish Building Regulations.
Before – Timber windows no longer met the requirements of the residents.
After – New CR Smith double glazing has reduced draughts and increased the properties energy efficiency.
