Hand Picked Scotland latest successful academy candidates

A helping hand onto a career path

19/06/18

CR Smith is proud to run Hand Picked – Scotland’s only employability programme run by private businesses – helping young people gain new skills for employment.

For some 16-24-year-olds, it can be tricky to find a job, especially if they’re unsure of what career they want to follow. However, throughout the years, we’ve helped many young people in Scotland find their way into different sectors and occupations.

We recently held a Hand Picked Academy with nine attendees aged 16-22. During the course, we welcomed Fife College lecturer, Frazer Walker to give an overview of careers in the construction industry as well as a tour of our own workshop, where CR Smith Apprentices are trained.

We’re delighted that five of the attendees have now gone on to secure positive outcomes including places at college on the Mechanical Engineering and Construction NC courses as well as jobs including Trainee Finance Assistant, Field Sales Agent and Apprentice Welder.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be running trade-based Hand Picked Academies, which are tailored to young people interested in careers in the construction industry.
