The Perfect Complement

Whether you long to relax on a crisp morning with the sun beaming on your face, or enjoy the breath-taking view of the stars at night, a Lorimer conservatory is a well-tempered and constant environment, meaning you can enjoy the feeling of being outside with all the comforts of being inside.

Our Lorimer range of conservatories offers an unrivalled choice of period and contemporary styles all designed to give your home a fresh new look, whilst adding plenty of space and unrivalled comfort.

Why choose a CR Smith conservatory?

The Lorimer Range is totally unique and is exclusive to CR Smith; Lorimer uPVC conservatories naturally match the Lorimer Range of windows and doors. Aside from our wealth of experience and commitment to customer care, our market-leading conservatories are unrivalled in terms of quality and performance and we take care of everything for you.

Viewed from the outside, a Lorimer conservatory has the classic shape and styling of a timber conservatory, but requires far less maintenance. The secret lies in the contoured detail, which provides a slim shape that's as strong as it is beautiful and lets in as much light as possible.

Inside, we've also paid special attention to how your conservatory looks, so we've created a slim, contoured finish to the frame for you to look at as well as through.

The Complete Package from CR Smith

A Lorimer conservatory really is the complete package – our specification includes a Smartglass roof, opening hoppers throughout, a Climate Control system, painted walls, varnished sills and a tiled or timber floor – so all the work is done for you. We'll also take take of any necessary local authority permissions and consents on your behalf. All you have to do is move in – it couldn't be more simple:

Ventilation: Ventilation is vital in a conservatory, even in Scotland. Every Lorimer conservatory is different, designed specifically for you. However, as a starting point we'd suggest top opening windows all the way round and a set of double doors to allow a free flow of air on the hottest days. And they make your conservatory look great too.

Roof: Every CR Smith conservatory includes a 'Smartglass' roof. It's self-cleaning on the outside and the special coating on the inside retains heat, reduces glare and blocks out 90% of UV light. Available in four colours, it can look like a summer's day every day.

Heating: Our Climate Control system allows you to regulate the temperature in your conservatory every day of the year. It will heat or cool, dehumidify and purify the air at the touch of a button or set timer. It is the perfect way to control the climate in your conservatory and get the most out of it all year round.

Windows: All our conservatory double glazed windows achieve an 'A' energy rating. They are fitted with two panes of toughened glass as standard for strength and safety. And to increase their thermal efficiency, one of the panes has a special low emissivity coating and the cavity is filled with Argon gas.

Floor: We offer a huge selection of tiled and timber floors. Choose from our beautiful new range of Porcelanosa tiles, or perhaps an engineered timber floor would match the rest of your home. Both of these options are stylish, hard-wearing and easy to clean.

Internal Finish: Internally, the conservatory will be finished beautifully with veneered sills and solid skirting boards in your choice of Royal Oak, Natural Ash or American cherry to create a feature on the internal walls. All hand finished in wax or varnish, and we will paint the walls too.

Power: Sockets, wall lights, maybe a colonial style fan? You tell us what you want and we'll get it fitted while we're building the conservatory. All the wires are hidden and we organise all the work for you.

Conservatory Styles

The Lorimer range features five distinctive bespoke conservatory styles, meaning we have something to suit your personality and that of your property. Or you can let your imagination go wild and design something totally unique. Still not sure if we can turn your dreams into a reality? Take a look at our Customer's Homes  to see how we have transformed thousands of customer's homes across Scotland.

Edwardian Conservatory

The Edwardian design consists of a square or rectangular shaped roof, with straight lines, a flat front, and an apex. It's ideal for maximising internal floor space and is the perfect complement to traditional properties.

Gable Front Conservatory

Offered in a square or rectangular shape, the Gable Front conservatory rises to an apex, with the ridge running back to the walls of your home. The pitch of this conservatory can also be aligned with your home's gable and customised further with a stained glass design, Georgian bars or leading, creating an incredibly bright, airy and sophisticated living space

Sunlounge

If it's versatility you seek, a Sunlounge, otherwise known as a lean-to or a garden room, is the perfect option for you. Its delectably modest design includes a sloped single roof. With this conservatory and some well positioned doors, it's the perfect way to open your home up to your garden.

Victorian

For a more traditional home, the Victorian design would be the most ideal fit; its multifaceted front contributes to its magnificent curve. For a more pronounced profile, the three-bell shape is best with the five-bell model offering a rounded bay front normally with doors leading to the garden.

Gullwing

Incorporating a new twist on an old style, the Gullwing integrates the large floor area of a Sunlounge with the elegance of the Victorian roof. One of its most notable features is the Gullwing's unique corner detail, where the corners facing away from the house are angled.

Alternatively, a Half-Gullwing has just one shaped corner, perfect if your home has a high wall alongside it. It is a versatile design and suits most properties, whether they are small or large, single or multi-storey.

Bespoke and Hybrid

If you're looking for something a little more unique and have a vision of what your new conservatory would ideally look like, you can also build it to your own specifications.
Working with our designers, you can make the most of your new conservatory, regardless of its shape or size. We can even combine different styles if that's' what it takes to give you the conservatory you've always envisioned.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose a Lorimer conservatory?

When you choose a Lorimer conservatory, you’ll enjoy the finest service from the moment you contact us. And we can offer more choice than your average provider. You’ll enjoy a bespoke design, giving you a build that meets both your specification and those of your local building regulator. From casement windows to tilt and turns to sliding sashes, we’ll fit everything you need, keeping our design in the spirit of the rest of your home. Moreover, the cutting edge tech of Lorimer windows will provide you with guaranteed security and an energy rating of “A” as standard. We’ll be on hand to help you with every section of the building process, from planning to construction to interior décor. You’re not only purchasing a conservatory – this is a comprehensive service. Add to this a Smartglass self-cleaning roof, our Climate Control heating and cooling system as well as opening windows throughout and you’ll be lounging in a conservatory that knocks the competition out of the park.

What kind of conservatory can I enjoy?

Our conservatories come in a variety of styles, each of which can be altered to suit the precise needs of your home. Our core styles – the Gable, Gullwing, Sunlounge and Victorian – are specially designed to adapt to the mould of almost any home. We pride ourselves on bringing you the conservatory you want. We can even combine styles to give you the best of all worlds.

Do I need planning permission?

Planning permission varies on a case-by-case basis. But if you’re searching for a standard conservatory in your back garden, you shouldn’t need the go-ahead from your local council. The waters become muddier, however, if you live in a listed building, want an extension facing your street or a conservatory that’s larger than standard regulations. No matter what you’re planning, contact your local council for their stance on the matter. The last thing you want is an extension sullied by red tape.

Do all CR Smith conservatories have a bespoke design?

Every conservatory is built with your home in mind, and we’ll change specifications to suit your requests. In a country with a rich heritage like Scotland, we understand that every house has its own unique personality and vintage. But whether it’s a modern masterpiece or a rugged build from the 1930s, we’ve got the styles to match. Edwardian, Victorian, Gullwing and many more designs can be altered from our vast repository and knowledge – and your input will help make the extension unique. If all this sounds a little overwhelming, don’t worry – our friendly specialists will be with you every step of the way to give advice and answer any questions.
