CR Smith sustainability.
The CR Smith range has been designed, and is continually being developed, to reduce emissions through increased thermal efficiency.
It therefore makes sense that, as a company, CR Smith extend this ethos to everything we do by trying to ensure our environmental impact is reduced as far as reasonably possible.
We aim to do this by focusing on a programme of ongoing development and improvements.
Producing the best performing products.
Elevating standards in energy efficiency is inherent to our window range, which has an ‘A’ energy rating. Pushing standards further, our products offer u-values that can reach as low as 1.2 in double glazing and 0.8 in triple glazing.
Maximising efficiency in manufacturing.
In the past decade alone, we’ve invested over £3 million in our manufacturing facilities most notably in the largest PVCu machining centre of its kind in the UK, and our state-of-the-art glass plant.
We have recognised the benefits investment in precision engineering can bring in terms of quality of product, efficiency and waste reduction.
Our continuing commitment to this is evidenced by the enhancement of our production process for timber materials, which we source exclusively from FSC accredited suppliers. We have achieved this through the installation of two new automated optimising saws offering huge improvements in material and waste management.
Recycling and reuse.
In our commitment to sustainability, offcuts from our manufacturing processes: PVCu, glass, timber and metals are separated and recycled. PVCu offcuts play a vital role in the production of our RCM reinforcement, as you can see in the images on the left, whilst glass cullet undergoes recycling to form the foundation of new glass products.
Furthermore, our post-consumer waste programme ensures that old window and door products removed from residents’ homes find a second life through trusted third-party partners wherever possible
ISO 14001 accreditation.
Our ISO 14001 certification demonstrates our commitment to environmental responsibility and continuous improvement. This internationally recognised standard demonstrates our compliance in maintaining robust environmental management systems designed to reduce waste, minimise our carbon footprint, and comply with all relevant legislation.
