Forfar has served as both a traditional market town and a major manufacturing centre over its long history. Originally a mecca for linen and jute, today the main activities are agriculture and tourism which centres around scenic Strathmore.
Its growth has been organic over the years, with new and old properties sitting side by side to create an eclectic mix of styles and architectural features.
Mr and Mrs Nicholl decided to change the windows in their period, red-sandstone home after their first winter in their new home. The house was exposed to chilling draughts because of crumbling ineffectual windows. “Prior to CR Smith it felt like our windows were permanently open” said Mrs Nicoll.
“Our sales representative was very professional. He arrived with samples and provided us with multiple ideas to consider” Mrs Nicoll added. The Nicoll’s couldn’t emphasise enough how important it had been to view working samples of our sliding sash windows. They felt their home had lost a lot of its grandeur and the Nicoll’s wanted us to help reinstate it.
The Lorimer range from CR Smith offered a full selection of window styles to ensure Mr and Mrs Nicholl’s got the right design to make the most of their home. Our Lorimer sliding sash window showcases all the features of a traditional sash and case timber window but benefits from modern engineering and design with minimal maintenance.
Mrs Nicoll described the communication with CR Smith as “brilliant. We knew when the workmen would be here and what they were coming to do.” We refitted the original handles to the newly installed windows as requested. “We are really proud of our home. We can’t thank CR Smith enough” Mrs Nicoll enthused.
