Lorimer Sunlounge Conservatory, Aberlady, East Lothian
So, when Mr and Mrs Steel’s uncle decided he wanted a conservatory for his late 20th century home, he already had his mind firmly set on building with CR Smith. Aware of our reputation for quality and reliability, he didn’t entertain using anyone else.
CR Smith designed a sunlounge conservatory that is flooded by natural light, helped vastly by Lorimer’s slim frames; and as the Steels’ uncle has severe sight problems, the conservatory has made his days a lot easier. More than just a bright cosy space; the room also gives the Steels’ uncle easy access and views into his back garden from the glass to floor windows. With multi-point locks on the French doors and on all opening windows, he can rest assured that his home is nice and secure.
“Our uncle insisted on CR Smith, and we’re so glad he did. The new conservatory has totally transformed his life. He is in it every day and absolutely loves it – he never wants to leave,” said Mr Steel.
More than a stunning conservatory, the Steels have given their uncle a new lease of life; and they couldn’t be happier.
Situated on the bay from which takes its name, Aberlady is one of East Lothian’s prettiest villages, enjoying spectacular vistas across the coast’s saltmarsh to the high sand dunes beyond.
Aberlady was a mecca for tourists during the Edwardian era, when families would move there for entire summer seasons and this style of property is still prevalent today, where traditional sash and case windows were the style of choice. Its appealing historic core has changed relatively little over the years and the centre is a conservation area.
However, expansion around the conservation village in recent years means that many new houses are also now a feature.
Our Lorimer range of windows, doors and living spaces means that we can design the right style of home improvement for either traditional or contemporary properties, from sliding sash windows to bespoke tiled sunrooms.
