CR Smith is a household name throughout Scotland, brought about by clever PR and advertising.
The sponsorship of both Celtic and Rangers Football Clubs simultaneously in 1984 increased awareness of the company and our business overnight, not only in Scotland, but throughout the world. Apart from our logo being seen on the pitch every week throughout the football season, it was also shown regularly on television, newspapers, magazines, and replica strips. In those days, even premier football teams did not have sponsors. CR Smith was the first company to invest in football shirt sponsorship - it was a risk which paid off big time and is still working for us in many ways.
When our first TV advert we want to be happy appeared throughout Scotland in the summer of 1984 it was extremely popular because of its catchy tune. Everybody loved singing it and our unprompted awareness, and popularity, shot up to over 94% that year. We’ve had many successful TV campaigns since then, with titles such as "It has to be the man in the blue and white van" and more recently "What would you do in yours?"

Little has changed, with CR Smith continuing to rank top of the popularity polls in Scotland. We are now well established in the double glazing industry and CR Smith is automatically associated with windows, doors and conservatories.
We want to be happy is still the favourite advert of everyone here at CR Smith, even after all this time. Who knows, it might make a comeback, just like the Hovis adverts.
