Do you feel that you are not making full use of your current conservatory, because it is too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer? FIX from CR Smith has developed a new system to renovate your existing conservatory and give it a new lease of life.
We have a range of options that will modernise your conservatory into a new space for living so you can make the most of your conservatory throughout the year.
Solid Light Weight Roofs
Replace old for new with a modern tile or slate composite roof. Available in various colours, a new conservatory roof will give your home an impressive modern look.
Insulation and shading will provide you with a more comfortable room. In addition, you can change the windows in your conservatory to ‘A-energy rated’ Lorimer and ‘Secured by Design’ windows which will completely transform the appearance and usability of your living space. We can even fit windows in the roof to make the most of the natural light.
Changing a conservatory from a translucent roof to a solid roof requires a building warrant and the FIX team will help to manage this process for you.
Upgrade to SmartGlassTM roof glazing
If you enjoy the atmosphere of your living space being flooded with natural light, why not upgrade to intelligent SmartGlass? Not only is it self-cleaning, it’s far quieter than a polycarbonate roof and does much more to regulate the temperature in a conservatory. It is three times as efficient as standard double glazing. It’s also available in a range of colours, so every day can look like a summer’s day.
Some conservatory roofs have such a low pitch it is not possible to fit a glass or solid roof. Therefore we have a range of high performance polycarbonate options as well.
All our polycarbonate roofs have a co-extruded UV protective layer on both sides of the sheet, protecting you and your furniture dramatically reducing UV radiation, while still allowing through natural light. This means you can reduce your need for artificial lighting and your general running costs.
Polycarbonate roofs come in three different colours; clear, bronze and opal. You also have the option to include HeatGuardTM. By using a specialist reflective sheet, HeatGuardTM reduces solar gain by over half when compared to clear material, which minimises glare and reduces yellowing on the uPVC.
Imagine being able to heat, cool or dehumidify the air – all at the touch of a button! Our Climate Control system makes this possible. Whether it’s feeling cosy on a winter’s night or reading a book under summer skies, you can get more enjoyment from your conservatory with our Climate Control system.
The system is ‘A+++’ energy rated which means that it’s significantly cheaper to run than an electric heater, radiator or an air conditioning unit.
If your conservatory has a build-up of dirt and algae, not only does it detract from the appearance but left unmanaged it can cause long term damage such as the discolouration of the uPVC, metal corrosion and leaks.
Give your conservatory some TLC and bring it back to life. FIX from CR Smith offers a premium conservatory cleaning service for the glass and frames, roof and gutters, leaving your conservatory sparkling.

Is a Building Warrant required in Scotland when converting a conservatory to have a solid roof?
Yes. Converting a glass or polycarbonate conservatory roof to a solid roof is deemed as the creation of an extension, so a building warrant is always required.
How long does the conversion take?
That depends on the size of the conservatory and what shape of roof you have. Typically all roof conversions are completed within the week. However follow on trades such as ames taping, plastering, decoration and electrics will be required to complete the project.

Some conservatories may not be able to withstand the weight of a new solid roof.
