As well as looking like a solid wooden door, our Timberplus doors have all the advantages of a traditional timber door, but none of the maintenance.
The specifically treated engineered Timberplus door leaf is fitted into a uPVC outer frame so it will never wrap, twist or stick like so many ordinary wooden doors.
It is constructed from thinly sliced layers of timber that are compacted and glued together to make a 44mm thick door blade. The thin slices are made by cutting the timber with the grain in a similar style to sharpening a pencil. This means that because the grain of the wood is not cut along with the uPVC frame, it resists twisting, binding and warping, and compensates for any expansion and contraction of the door.
The frame can also be upgraded with timber cladding to match the microporous paint colour of the door itself. The finish allows the wood to breathe and helps prevent peeling, cracking and blistering, which can often occur with oil based paints.
The CR Smith Timberplus door can also be upgraded to be fire rated to comply with relevant regulations, for example, entrance doors in stairwells.
French doors and doors with side screens are available complete with a multi point locking system, whic has proved effective in crime prevention expert tests and is specified for use by ‘Secured by Design’.
