Mr Mitchell & Ms Wilson - Edinburgh

With great property comes great responsibility.

When designers Mr Mitchell and Ms Wilson were searching for a home, their creative eyes just couldn’t go past the outstanding Art Deco detail of their house. A movement embracing clean lines, geometric forms and elegant motifs – it’s a designer’s dream.

Any true Art Deco house is all about symmetry. The original windows had a beautiful, clean and bold astragal design that was vital to the look of the house. The only problem was – they were old, they were noisy and the thick astragals blocked a lot of natural light.

Feeling it was their duty to protect the look of the house, the couple came to CR Smith. With Lorimer’s slimline frames, we worked to help redesign the windows and retain the symmetrical look with the benefits of Lorimer technology.

Instead of thick, internal astragals, Mr Mitchell and Ms Wilson now have beautiful, slim new astragals that allow the light to flood into their home. Not only that, but the house is warmer and the new windows are much easier to maintain.

Simple and beautiful – it’s everything that Art Deco should be.
