Hand-Picked 100: Give a young person 90 days and change their life

29/06/18

We’ve launched a new campaign in a bid to find jobs for 100 local young people.

Hand-Picked 100 was established by CR Smith boss Gerard Eadie CBE to get support from 100 employers who are willing to give young people the chance to boost their career opportunities through a 90-day paid job.

Under the banner of “You take on. They take off.” Mr Eadie is leading the call for employers to sign up to the initiative, which already has the backing of Taylor Wimpey, FES Ltd and James Donaldson & Sons, and is encouraging companies of all shapes and sizes to get on board.

The programme has received the endorsement of former Prime Minister and Fife MP, Gordon Brown, who recently visited an Academy run by CR Smith.

In 90 days, a young person can learn the expectations of the workplace and take their new skills and experience onto their next interview and job.

Right now more than 1,500 young people in Fife are unemployed. In Dundee that figure is more than 900, with a further 300 out of work in Perthshire.

Young people are the next generation of future business leaders and that’s one of the reasons why we’re encouraging employers to get involved and help shape the workforce of the future.
